Guest Eligibility
We provide lodging to solid organ, BMT, stem cell and CAR-T transplant patients and their caregivers. Accommodations are available during your transplant work-up, transplant and follow-up appointments. There is no limit to your length of stay – you may stay as long as necessary or just overnight. Prior to staying at the house, you will be asked to take a tour.
Tours
Tours are an essential element of staying at the house and are mandatory. Your tour will be conducted by a knowledgeable and welcoming tour guide and will last an hour. Not only does the tour provide you with information regarding our protocols for ensuring safe and healthy living conditions, it will also provide you with valuable information regarding what you should bring during your visit. Tours are conducted at the Edward and Jayne Pompeian Home and if possible, include showing you one of our guest rooms. Tours may be scheduled by calling 507-288-7470 or emailing us at office@gift-of-life.org. Appointments are available Monday through Friday, 10:00am – 4:00pm.
Cost
We charge $30.00 per night for lodging and a $40.00 once per visit cleaning fee. Payments may be made by cash, check, or credit card. Please Note: we do not accept American Express.

A number of shops and boutiques are available in the Subway and in downtown Rochester.
Ordering Food
While food is not allowed in our guest rooms, there will be some nights when preparing a meal just isn’t convenient. In addition to pizza delivery, Rochester offers three food delivery services. WaiterExpress will provide delivery from select restaurants in Rochester. DoorDash and GrubHub also provide delivery from select restaurants in town, including some fast food chains.

Gift of Life Transplant House has established a Health and Wellness Committee, committed to promoting the emotional, spiritual and physical well-being of guests and caregivers during their stay. While we realize that your days are filled with appointments, tests and consultations, it is our hope that we can ease some of the stresses of the day.
Card And Jewelry Making Parties
Periodically volunteers will provide materials and training for guests and caregivers to spend an hour or two creating cards and jewelry.
Hand Massage
Every week a Hand Massage Therapist can be found in the library at either house on our campus. These 10 – 15 minute hand massages relax and are free of charge.

We are a 501c3, non-profit hospital hospitality house that provides affordable, temporary lodging to patients, 18 and over, and their caregivers who come to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for solid organ , BMT, Stem Cell and CAR-T transplants.
Through the generosity of our many benefactors, Gift of Life Transplant House has not raised fees since 2013. The cost per night is $30.00 with a one-time per stay cleaning fee of $40.00.
We require guests to be accompanied by a caregiver. Caregivers provide physical and emotional support during the transplant journey.
Guests are responsible for preparing their own meals in the fully-equipped kitchen and dining in the spacious dining room. Each guest room is assigned their own pantry cabinet, refrigerator and freezer space for their personal food items. Pots, pans, crock pots, instapots, cooking utensils, plates, cups, and silverware provided for your use. Coffee and tea are available for you whenever you like.
Yes. A shuttle service is provided to and from Gift of Life Transplant House, Mayo Clinic and St. Marys Hospital. The shuttle runs throughout the day Monday through Friday.
No. Gift of Life Transplant House is an independent, 501c3 non-profit organization that manages and operates the house for Mayo transplant patients. We raise our own operating budget through the generosity of our benefactors and our fundraising events.
