What is Gift of Life Transplant House?

We are a 501c3, non-profit hospital hospitality house that provides affordable, temporary lodging to patients and their caregivers who come to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for solid organ, BMT, Stem Cell and CAR-T transplants.

Through the generosity of our many benefactors, Gift of Life Transplant House has not raised fees since 2013. The cost per night is $30.00 with a one-time per stay cleaning fee of $40.00.

We require guests to be accompanied by a caregiver. Caregivers provide physical and emotional support during the transplant journey.

Guests are responsible for preparing their own meals in the fully-equipped kitchen and dining in the spacious dining room. Each guest room is assigned their own pantry cabinet, refrigerator and freezer space for their personal food items. Pots, pans, crock pots, instapots, cooking utensils, plates, cups, and silverware provided for your use. Coffee and tea are available for you whenever you like.

Yes. A shuttle service is provided to and from Gift of Life Transplant House, Mayo Clinic and St. Marys Hospital. The shuttle runs throughout the day Monday through Friday.

No. Gift of Life Transplant House is an independent, 501c3 non-profit organization that manages and operates the house for Mayo transplant patients. We raise our own operating budget through the generosity of our benefactors and our fundraising events.
